AVATAR PLANTED AQUARIUM SETUP AND TUTORIAL!
All The Gear You Need To Build An "Avatar" Style Tank Like This One▼
The Avatar aquarium setup / build was by far my favorite project so far. It took a ton of preparation, thinking back and forth and trial and error to complete, but I think it was worth it! We started out using some fluval stratum substrate because this tank would eventually house many shrimp and of course plants! Spoiler: No Avatar aquarium is complete with out some type of blue shrimp right? To create the "Avatar floating rocks" portion of the Avatar theme aquascape, I used pumice. This way I could easily make holes for plants and the buoyant nature of this rock will make it easy to hang without causing stress on the scaffolding support system. Once the Avatar rocks were planted, I strung them up using some stainless steal eye bolts and fishing line. After they were attached to the scaffolding, I continued planting the aquarium. I used a bunch of manzanita driftwood twigs to connect the floating Avatar rocks as well as added them to the rocks on the substrate level.
Once the Avatar tanks aquascape was finished, I added water from an existing tank, added a cycled filter and other common accessories. By doing this, I could add my sakura fire red cherry shrimp and other invertebrates right away. I also added some otto cats that will get along perfectly with these shrimp. The next video in the Avatar planted tank series will be the addition of even more AMAZING invertebrates that will surely surprise you. We're also going to be adding one more species of fish that will round out the theme ;) Stay tuned and make sure you subscribe on YouTube so you don't miss out!
